We offer hand sewn and machine sewn recreations of historical hats from 1700 through 1865.
Hand Sewn Hats
CockedHats.com produces hand crafted and hand sewn eighteenth throught mid-nineteenth century hats for officers, gentlemen, soldiers, sailors, Marines and those who desire the most authentic recreations for their period impression. These hats have order codes beginning with "HS".
Our hand sewn historical hats are:
- Researched and fully documented
- Crafted by hand
- All sewing including the linings, trims (such as cockades) and bindings are done by hand (no machines)
- Materials are correct for the period
- Made by us in our shop in Western Maryland, USA
- Each hat is crafted as a one-of-a-kind recreation of an original eighteenth through mid-nineteenth century hat.
CockedHats.com has crafted cocked hats and other styles for members of the Brigade of the American Revolution, British Brigade, Continental Line, museums and individuals who recreate famous eighteenth century figures. You may have seen General George Washington wearing one of our cocked hats as he recreated the crossing of the Delaware River in 2009, 2010, 2011 and again in 2012.
Machine Sewn Hats
CockedHats.com also offers machine sewn historical hats 1700 - 1865. These hats are made using period correct patterns and materials. They are crafted for us by one of the premier hat makers in the USA. They always feature leather hat liners rather than hand sewn linen hat liners. These hats have order codes beginning with "MS".
