Cockades
According to George C. Neumann's landmark reference book COLLECTOR'S ILLUSTRATED ENCYCLOPENDIA OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION:
"Practically all military hats and caps bore cockades. Traditionally of cloth, they varied their color by nationality or special units. The British enlisted men wore black, and the French, white. Some Germans, especially the jaegers, displayed green. The colonists adopted England's black but added a white rosette in 1780 to mark the French Alliance".
We offer hand crafted and hand sewn cockades made from silk ribbon, fine linen and also black horsehair. Leather cockades are also available as special order items. Available in both rectangular and also rosette shapes.
